Athrry grew up in Colombo, Sri Lanka. She graduated from University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. Her undergraduate research focused on carbon-based nano materials. Post graduation she worked in research related to the use of chemistry and material science in the apparel industry. She joined the Vlaisavljevich group in fall 2024.
